Discovering authentic Chinese recipes in a Hong Kong canteen from the 70s is the challenge that Hekla takes on by creating an immersive place that teleports the customer to the Middle Kingdom. The benches and the fully tiled counter are custom made to meet this ambition while reinterpreting traditional color codes.All of the furniture, lighting and trinkets are imported directly from China to offer a real cultural and visual journey. The space is dramatized thanks to the bar which closes and opens depending on the time of the day, like a street restaurant. Other branding elements such as hand-painted exterior signs in Mandarin, hanging photographs of dishes, poster walls, packaging, outfits and stickers, accumulate and reinforce the experience for a trip into the time and space.
